The Cinch used on the Western Saddle comes in many styles and materials.   The materials are often cotton or poly string, or neoprene.  A favorite western cinch is known as the Super Girth.  The Super Girth is made of a sturdy nylon web backed with thick fleece or synthetic Kodel fiber.  This popular Cinch is machine washable, comfortable for the horse or pony and it comes in many different colors of nylon and fleece.  The following list of sizes can be used as a Guideline:

• Miniature Horse size is usually 18", 20" or 22"
• Pony size is usually 24", 26", or 28".
• Horse size is usually 30", 32", 34" and 36"

The English Girth is usually leather and gaining popularity are the neoprene girths.  Also available are the cotton-wool blend string girths.  The girth ends have double buckles and often one end has elastic between the girth and buckles.   The following list of sizes can be used as a Guideline:

• Miniature Horse size is usually 26", 28", and 30"
• Pony size is usually 32", 34", and 36"
• Cob size is usually  40", 42",  and 44"
• Horse size is usually 46", 48", 50", 52", and 54"

A Horse or Pony will not wear the same size English and Western Girth or Cinch due to the way in which each girth is attached to the different style of saddles.  An English Girth fit requires a more exact measurement as there is not much room for adjustment.  The Western Cinch has a little more room for adjustment.
